Vince Offer
Don’t know that name? I’m sure you know the face. As I was sat on my couch for most of the weekend recuperating from a cold I saw a new informercial featuring the guy from the stupid Shamwow infomercials. I wondered, “who is this guy and where did he come from?”. His name is Vince Offer and he has a slightly colorful background.
Prior to his Shamwow fame he was most notorious for writing and directing “Underground Comedy Movie”. According to Wikipedia “the film itself mainly consists of crude lowbrow skits (such as Gena Lee Nolin loudly using the restroom and a superhero named “Dickman”, who dresses in a giant penis costume and defeats his enemies by squirting them with semen)”. It also stars Slash and Joey Buttafuoco. Did I also mention that NOFX and Guttermouth did the soundtrack? It’s consistently ranked in the IMDB bottom 100 movies.
He’s also got a wee bit of a litigious streak. He’s sued the Farrely Brothers for stealing ideas, the late great Anna Nicole Smith for breach of contract, and of course the Church of Scientology. A former Scientologist himself, he claims his name has been blackened by the Scientolgoist propaganda hit machine. He’s more interesting than I had imagined.
